Talk about gutting... Steve's out...
He came into CP2 and said, 'Ask me the question, Rory'... I did, we hugged and both shed a tear and sat in the sunshine and shared our thoughts of the last few days.
It's been a phenomimal effort... and today he has shown that he is a gentle giant of a man.
Liz, be very proud and Connie, your Daddy is one in a million.

Oh no! You've done so well mate. I'm totally gutted for you. You'll be well warmed up for the Fling on Saturday now. Rest well and be proud. It took immense courage to return.

Tremendous effort Steve, be very proud of yourself . You gave it everything, even to make the line up for the start is more than most people could ever contemplate. Rest & recover well & I'll see you on the next stupid adventure!

ReplyDeleteSteve - Sorry to hear your out mate. The challenge is immense. I certainly didn't have the guts for it again this year, so be proud and recover well. Hope to here about your experience at an ultra sometime some.

ReplyDeleteWell done Steve! You smashed your PB by returning to take on the challenge - that takes courage. Have a good rest and feel proud. Only 4 runners have got further than you. I had hoped to run it again this year but could not. hopefully I will run next year and be inspired by the magnificent 7 this year. Congratulations Steve and good luck Mike.

On top of that you have helped to raise money for a great charity. Everyone who knows you personally or has been following your journey is proud of your achievement! Take great comfort in that ! ReplyDeleteMost mortals would feel very proud of just taking part in a marathon or two, but not many mortals could take part in a 5 day run averaging over 55 miles per day and come out of it with problems with a leg or tendon: thay would come out of it completly done in!
You may not have completed the 2 week run but just running those distances in 5 days is a hell of an achievement in itself. And in life that's what we have to concentrate on: on our achievements.
And you should go home feeling proud of yourself
